30 Days of Email Domination: 8 over 5

By Sol in Blog

Inbox & bulk message processing was way below 10 minutes today– just 8 seconds over 5 minutes! That’s awesome.

Message processing went very smoothly today. I was clear-minded when working through the messages in the inbox. Even bulk messages were processed faster than expected (at a record-breaking 41.3 messages/minute).

Simplifying the search to a single operator so that more messages are displayed per screen (100 messages vs 20 messages at a time) makes a big difference in how fast messages can be processed. However, I do sometimes wonder if any interesting messages were missed in the sea of marketing emails. This caused me to ponder whether I should be unsubscribing from those messages that I delete out of hand anyway.

Even if I delete most marketing emails, I do like receiving them because it allows me to get an overview of the current sales and promotions. I scan the subject lines for any interesting sales and delete the rest.

Still, it is a lot of noise to wade through and it would be quite a bit more relaxing to simply see less messages shouting about sales and limited time offers.

Filter refinements caused management tasks to take a bit longer today, once again just pushing me beyond my 10 minute goal. Updating and adding filters always takes extra time, but the time savings the filters yield make it well worth my time.
