@Tom: nope, any file type that can be used as a favicon by browsers is supported (ico, png, gif, jpg). You may want to make sure you clear your cache and fully reload the page and try adding a favicon again.

Hi:

Just updated to the newest version, still not working. But I just noticed your dialog screen shots above only feature gif files. Do they have to be gif's? I was trying to use .ico files.

Regards
Tom

Hi:

In the admin dashboard I goto, Appearence>favicon>. Says no favicon set. So I goto add new>media library>show>add icon and I am returned to the list of available icon under the media library tab. So I click save changes and nothing happens. I am again returned to the media library tab. So I close the dialog and then it says no favicon set. I take a quick look at the website and no favicon is visible. Any ideas?

Regards

@Tom, glad you were able to enable image uploading. Can you provide a bit more information on the issue you're experiencing? For example: Are you getting any error messages, what are the steps you're taking to set the icon (and where you hit a snag), what browser are you using (name and version), etc.

It looks like it's an issue with folder permissions (which is a server/hosting issue). A quick look at Google turned up this bit of info from Wordpress' support forums:
<a href="http://wordpress.org/support/topic/htaccess-for-000webhost-amp-file-upload-problems" rel="nofollow">000webhost & file upload problems</a>

Once you get your directory permissions worked out, you should be able to upload images for posts and favicons.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi:

I'm using 000webhost.com. I don't really have the site fully working I only just installed wordpress a few days ago and wanted to add some favicons to the site. I installed your plugin and then tried to upload with the flash and the browser uploader both failed with this error:

"Unable to create directory /home/~user/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2010/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?"

Problem is I don't have write permission to anything above the public_html folder. I've tried changing some of the wordpress settings but get essentially the same error and uploads fail.

I had not actually tried to upload an image via the blog yet, so was not sure if it was a config problem with wordpress, my host or your plugin. I just gave it a try and uploading an image to a post failed with the same message. So not sure what to do next.

Since I am using a free account there is no support. If you have any thoughts on what might be the problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards
Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the feedback.

The plugin uses Wordpress' built-in media management functionality and so it stores uploaded images in Wordpress' default location for all media (e.g. images added to posts, etc.). Are you able to upload images and add them to posts without issue? Also, how do you know that the plugin is trying to upload to the "/home/user~..." directory, is it providing you with some kind of error message? If so, can you please copy and paste the entire error message for me to look at?

The plugin is currently installed and working on several production websites (this one included), but different server configurations may cause issues. What hosting service are you using for the site in question?

Once I have more information about your issue I can take a gander and fix any issues.
